Oconee County is nestled in northeast Georgia. Maintaining a down-home way of life, Oconee County has been established as a great location to live, work, and play. Due to the presence of four federal highways and seven state highways crisscrossing the county, Oconee County has easy access to and from Atlanta, Athens, Macon, and Augusta. Additionally, through these points, you can easily reach destinations in the southeastern United States.
With Georgia Highway 316, which has been dubbed "University Parkway" due to the fact that it connects the University of Georgia (Athens) with Georgia Tech and Emory University (Atlanta), a natural corridor exists between these research institutions. Naturally, Oconee County is situated in a location in close proximity to a critical mass of highly-skilled and highly-educated individuals, capable of working in an education-intensive environment.
