Georgia’s Innovation Crescent represents a collaboration between thirteen counties which have a critical mass of life science talent. The Crescent spans from Atlanta to Athens, including critical research that is being conducted at the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Emory University.
The Innovation Crescent collaboration exists to improve and expand the economic development marketing efforts for the Life Science industry within the WorkReady identified region. Through these efforts, Georgia’s life science brand will be nationally and globally recognized as a hub for life science business, research, education and workforce.
The Innovation Crescent is suited for life science industry clustering in the areas of therapeutics, bio-defense, agri-business, research and development, and environmental areas with cutting-edge platform technologies in biotechnology, nanotechnology, bioinformatics, and genomics.
The counties of Barrow, Clarke, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe, and Walton are all included in the Innovation Crescent.
The goals of the Innovation Crescent’s member communities include:
